In addition to the many student funding resources available through Yale’s fellowship office (see http://www.yale.edu/yalecollege/academics/fellowships/), a number of fellowships and awards are administered through Saybrook College. Some of the awards require participation in the Mellon Forum, where students in their senior year present their work to a group of their peers.
Please note the following general guidelines:
Maximum Award: $1,200.
Total Funds: $4,050.

Constraints: Travel funds
Description: This fellowship is intended to provide travel funds annually to enable a resident of Saybrook College to pursue a research project in the United States or abroad.
Application Information: Items required: completed application, one-page proposal detailing your research project, and a copy of your registration coversheet from the Student Grant Database.
Maximum Award: Concerts ($500), Theatre: ($1,200), Dance ($1,000), Art ($500) Literature ($1,200.)
Total Funds: $25,000.

Constraints: Dramatic, musical, dance, video, film, literature, and exhibitions
Description: Administered by the Council of Masters, the Creative and Performing Arts (CPA) Awards support on-campus dramatic, musical, dance, video and film productions, literary publications, and exhibitions in each residential college. These projects are supported by the Sudler Fund, the Welch Art Fund, and the Bates Fund. Ideally, productions should be held within the residential colleges; if that is not possible, productions must take place on campus.
Application Information: The Council of Masters has created an online application processfor the CPA Awards in the residential colleges. Applications must be submitted online by Monday, September 17th at 4pm. Note: Applications for use of a residential college theater or the Off Broadway Theater are due at the same time.
To encourage more arts-related projects in January and February, COM now invites September applications for both Fall 2012 and for projects that will conclude prior to March 6, 2013 (the beginning of Spring Break). Students may also submit second semester projects for CPA review in January 2013 (exact date TBD).

Constraints: Research
Description: Research must take place during the academic year and awardees must present the result of their research either to the Senior Mellon Forum or another educational forum in the college.
Application Information: Items required: completed application, one page proposal detailing the research project with the approval of a faculty advisor who will supervise the research project, and a copy of the registration coversheet from the Student Grant Database.

Description: The Stacey Leondis SY’08 Summer Fellowship supports summer internships and research projects for Saybrook students who train to undertake medical or biomedical research. The fellowship provides the opportunity for Saybrook students to participate in original research, clinical experiences or other forms of hands-on experiential learning in science, and particularly medicine. The fellowship was established by Steve and Lynn Leondis and John and Irene Gruska in memory of Stacey Rose Leondis ’08, a Saybrugian who passed away in 2008 shortly after her graduation from Yale.
All materials must be submitted online prior to the deadline of 11:59 PM on April 1, 2013. Applications received late or submitted via e-mail or in person will NOT be accepted.Minimum duration: 8 weeks. Projects of shorter duration will not be considered. The proposed project must be a full-time commitment and be the primary activity for the duration of the fellowship.

Language Evaluation: (if required, see the application form for instructions). Language Evaluations are not required for English speaking countries. Your language evaluation should be submitted electronically by your evaluator through the Student Grants Database. Once you register on this page you will be able to enter the e-mail address of your evaluator and solicit your language evaluation. This will then automatically send the evaluation form to your evaluator. If you are not required to submit a language evaluation, please disregard the Student Grants Database listing it as "required" when you complete your registration. This will not affect your application.
Letter of Reference: One letter of recommendation requested and submitted electronically through the Student Grants Database. You will be able to solicit this letter once you register. Additional letters of recommendation will not be accepted. Letters of invitation or affiliation are not necessary and will not be accepted. Letters are expected to be received prior to the application deadline. Letters submitted late may not be reviewed with your application.
Project Proposal: A written proposal (1,000 words maximum, double spaced) describing in detail the project or program of study and travel, its objectives and challenges, your preparation, and how it will enhance and diversify your personal and academic goals. A well-planned itinerary should be included, if appropriate. Your proposal must be uploaded and submitted electronically.
Résumé: A current résumé, including significant extracurricular activities, work experience, awards and honors. (One-page maximum. Additional pages will be discarded). Your résumé must be uploaded and submitted electronically.
Transcripts from Other Institutions: If applicable, unofficial transcripts from any institution attended, other than Yale, for post-secondary studies. Your transcript(s) must be scanned, uploaded and submitted electronically. Only submit the pages of your transcript showing grades, we do not require the codes on the back.You are not required to submit a Yale transcript. CIPE will obtain unofficial Yale transcripts for all applicants.
Interested applicants may schedule an appointment with a CIPE Fellowship Adviser; however, meeting with an adviser is not mandatory.

Constraints: Independent study & research (not mere travel or enrollment)
Description: Independent study and research, not for mere travel, work, or enrollment in a school. An internship is a valid use only if the primary component is study or research; being part of a research team is a valid use.
Application Information: Items required: completed application, one-page proposal detailing your research project, and a copy of your registration coversheet from the Student Grant Data Base. Student must also sign the Assumption of Risk Waiver Form for any international travel. International students make sure your paperwork is completed through Days Cardona in the Tax Dept. at 432-5530 so that your check is not delayed.
Students who are awarded fellowships will be expected to submit a brief written report to the Council of Master's Office at the beginning of the Fall term. Checks are issued to the recipients of this fellowship.

A Saybrook College Research Fellowship is awarded for independent study and research, including research internships or being part of a research team. Recipients must submit written summary reports explaining the use of their Fellowship to the Saybrook Master's Office by Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.

Constraints: Film productions
The Shutack Awards for Film Projects are offered in Saybrook College for students interested in producing films. Only Saybrook students with primary responsibilities in the proposed project may apply.SY Operations Manager, can assist with explanation of reimbursement procedures and other guidelines, which are essentially the same as those for film production awards through the Council of Masters' Creative and Performing Arts awards program.
The application must include an itemized budget and a detailed written description of the project. Whenever possible, equipment and other technical support should be obtained through the Digital Media Services for the Arts. Applicants must give a presentation of their work at a SY Mellon Forum.
