Larry Bowman

Larry Bowman is currently a 3rd year PhD student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology where he studies the changes in population genetics and molecular ecology of zooplankton and fish in local lakes in response to climate change.  Originally from Southwest Virginia in the heart of Appalachia, Larry was raised on a horse farm and currently enjoys riding with Yale Polo.  Larry completed his AB in Biological Sciences and English Literature at Dartmouth College.  His first encounter with Connecticut was at the Williams-Mystic Maritime Studies Program in Mystic, CT, where he fell in love with the sea, sailing, and invasive species.  Before coming to Yale, Larry pursued his MS in Biological Sciences at East Tennessee State University where he studied the endemic (and exotic!) zooplankton of Lake Baikal, Siberia.  Larry has a K-12 teaching background and enjoys discussing science education and policy.  He also enjoys fishing, French horn, and Frasier.  At Saybrook, he assists with the wine appreciation society, SayWine and the beer-brewing club, SayBrew.  larry.bowman@yale.edu
