  • Head of College

    • College tea at Biggs House with Anthony Jack this Thursday! Anthony Jack has a book coming out from Harvard University Press this Friday about low-income students at elite universities. It’s based on interviews with hundreds of faculty and students from many colleges as well as his personal experiences.

    • Next year, we’ll be celebrating the 100th year of women being admitted into Yale College and the 150th year of Women in Yale Professional and Graduate Schools!

      • Yale is planning a year long series of events

      • Saybrook will also have a series of events in celebration. You’ll be getting a message about participating in the planning process this week.

      • Thinking about having a section of SY dedicated to women and their achievements

      • Thinking about having a set of teas with alums (men and women) from that period of time, particularly from the Trumbull riot

        • Trumbull was the center of activism for coeducation at that time

        • Trumbull was going to be the women’s college, but things got violent

      • Excited to celebrate and explore our past, present, and future

  • Dean’s Report

    • Housing has started

    • Rising seniors and juniors can declare intent until March 4th. You should’ve gotten an email about that, but they’re being auto generated at this point, so if you haven’t yet do not fret because you shall.

    • Next week, there will be a housing info session for sophomores and juniors to give a sense of the new housing platform and deadlines

    • First-year one was today. If you missed it, get the information from your suitemates.

      • Big date is March 22nd portal open and can form groups

      • “Housing will get grimy”

    • March 8th is the credit/d deadline and last day to withdraw without a W appearing on transcript

    • In the process of starting to plan the SY semi formal. Let them know if you have strong opinions on the location or anything else!

    • Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the group that reached out to us about the mead was just interested in using the equipment for free despite not knowing how to use it. We won’t lend it to them, but might help them make it eventually. Either way, the  timing likely won’t be until April or May, which means it wouldn’t happen until the summer.

    • Let Saybrew know if you’re interested in taking the mead project over. Just need 4 or 5 gallons of honey
