October 28, 2013

Master and Associate Master’s Report

  • On Wednesday we are hosting Vivian Redding, VP of the European Commission. Five students will be allowed as guests to the lunch.
  • Friday and Saturday are Underbrook Coffeehouse events.
  • On Saturday, November 2, is the Master’s trip to NYC to visit the Blue Note Jazz Club. Check your email to check on the lottery entry deadline.
  • On Monday will be a master’s tea with Lydia Brown, a well-known promoter of autistic awareness.
  • Master Hudak’s younger daughter Jen will be here between Wednesday and Saturday! Say hi to her.

 

Dean’s Report

  • Nothing to report.

 

Committee Reports

SAC (Saybrook Activities Committee)

  • Tomorrow, Tuesday, will be our pumpkin-carving study-break at 8:30. SAC needs help hauling pumpkins upstairs beforehand!
  • This Saturday is our first tailgate at the Yale Bowl. The game is against Columbia.

Community Service

  • No report.

Facilities

  • Nothing to report.

Clothing Committee:

  • The sports bras should be coming in in a month or so.
  • Some of the hoodie designs have been tweaked, as no design was overwhelmingly popular.
  • Tammer had proposed an idea for a morale-raising t-shirt: “Say what one more time!” says Samuel L. Jackson.

Intramurals

  • Only 2 more weeks of IMs.
  • Somehow we’ve fallen in the rankings. L
  • We won the first round of playoff volleyball today! J

Sustainability Committee

  • Sustainability is “cosponsoring” the SY waterbottles being sold in the master’s office.
  • 2-3 recycling totes (i.e., bins) have now been installed in entryway E of Vandy.
  • An upcoming energy audit of SY will report sometime in the future.

Dining Committee

  • Nothing to report. The honey nut cheerios are well enjoyed.

Media Committee

  • The first newsletter is still upcoming. The recent interview with Eric Fishman “has just been transcribed.”

College Seminar Committee

  • No report.

Saybrook Historical Society Committee

  • Will be interviewing Kyle Skinner during tea this Friday.
  • Dean McKinley’s interview has been postponed, due to biking injuries. L

Bylaws

  • No report.

Housing

  • No report.

YCC

  • Ticket sales for Fall Show begin tomorrow. Fall Show is Saturday night at 7:30.
  • President Salovey’s Halloween party is Thursday evening in Commons.

Brewing Club

  • No report.

Mascot Committee

  • Our options have been narrowed down to: lion <3, seal, sealion, grapes, griffon, and saybertooth tiger.
