Tutoring and Academic Support

Yale undergraduates have access to a robust system of support and advice, in the form of tutors sponsored by residential colleges, academic departments, or the Yale College Dean’s Office, as well as a variety of subject-focused centers and programs.

Saybrook Writing Tutor:

Whitney Rakich is the residential writing tutor for Saybrook College. Head of College Near prefers to call her Saybrook’s writing coach. She holds a PhD in American Studies (University of New Mexico), an MA in Spanish (University of New Mexico), and a BA in Iberian Literature and Fiction Writing (Northwestern University). She is a writer of short and long fiction. Her office is located in Saybrook P-11, and she can be reached at whitney.rakich@yale.edu or you can make an appointment with Whitney at www.yalewco.com.
Bring her anything from brainstorms to drafts to polished manuscripts… All writers can benefit from an extra pair of eyes on their work!

Saybrook Mathematics and Science Tutor:

Elizabeth, from the small town of Rhinebeck, NY, obtained her B.A. from Connecticut College with a major in Chemistry and a minor in English in 2016. As an undergraduate, she tutored General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry. She is currently a 2nd year graduate student pursuing her Ph.D. in organic chemistry. Her research in the Miller Lab focuses on a biomimetic approach for asymmetric catalysis, which uses peptides to selectively catalyze the halogenation of several pharmaceutically relevant phenol-containing compounds. Elizabeth can be best reached at Elizabeth.Stone@yale.edu
